Runner and Buckets
The runner is the rotating part of the turbine. It is a disc with a number of evenly spaced buckets fixed around its periphery.
The bucket is made from two hemispherical bowls joined together. Each bucket has a wall between two hemispherical bowls called a diverter.
The splitter splits the jet of water hitting the bucket into two equal parts, and the jet of water is ejected from the outer edge of the bucket.
The bucket is designed in such a way that the flow of water hitting the bucket is deflected 160 to 170 degrees.
The blades of Pelton turbines are made of cast iron, cast steel, bronze or stainless steel.

Breaking jet

When the water flow is completely shut off by pushing the spear forward, the amount of water hitting the runner becomes zero. But the runner continues to move due to the runner's inertia.
In order to stop the runners in the shortest possible time, a small nozzle is provided, directing the water to the rear of the blades. The water jet used to stop the turbine wheel is called a fracture jet.
