Carbomer Model 1342: Pharmaceutical Grade Precision Controlled
Release Carrier, Excellent Biocompatibility Partner, Open A New
Journey Of Targeted Medicine Delivery
Basic product introduction:
- Carbomer 1342 is a polymer of acrylic acid bond and allyl sucrose
or pentaerythritol allyl, also known as polyacrylic acid,
carboxyvinyl copolymer.
- Its appearance is white loose powder, slightly special odor, strong
hygroscopicity, soluble in ethanol, water and glycerol, the
molecular structure contains 52%-68% carboxylic acid group, is
weakly acidic.
- After being ionized by the neutralized carboxyl group, the
molecular chains disperse and stretch into a greatly expanded
state, and have viscosity, which can form a clarified viscous gel.
Product features:
-- Physical properties
1. Solubility
- It has good water solubility, can be quickly dispersed in water and
self-wetting.
2. Appearance and form
- It is a white loose powder with strong hygroscopicity.
3. Transparency
- With high transparency, can make the product more clear and
transparent.
4. Viscosity
- It provides medium to high viscosity and maintains a relatively
stable viscosity over a wide pH range.
-- Chemical properties
1. Stability
- It has good chemical stability, can withstand the action of acid,
alkali, solvent and other chemical substances, and is not easy to
melt or decompose at high temperatures.
2. Electrolyte resistance
- It can be used in systems containing moderate surfactants to
provide electrolyte resistance to formulations that maintain
viscous, transparent and stable properties even in environments
containing electrolytes.
3. Antioxidant properties
- It has certain antioxidant properties, can trap free radicals, slow
down skin oxidation reaction, and help delay skin aging.
Product application field:
1. Medical field
- Carbomer eye drops and eye gel can be used as a substitute for
tears to treat dry eyes. By forming a transparent crystal gel with
high viscosity and sticking to the surface of the cornea to store
liquid, it can relieve dry eyes and other symptoms.
- In the pharmaceutical industry, carbomer is often used as an
excipient for the manufacture of ointment, gel, suppository and
other dosage forms, which can improve the stability of medicine,
control medicine release, and enhance the efficacy of medicine.
2. Cosmetics
- In creams and lotions, carbomer acts as a thickener and emulsifier
to increase product viscosity, improve texture, and prevent
ingredient separation.
- When used in shampoos and conditioners, it helps to mix oil-soluble
and water-soluble ingredients and maintain the texture and
stability of the product.
- In gel products, transparent and high-viscosity gel systems can be
formed, such as facial washing gel, eye gel, etc.
- In addition, it can also be used as a film forming agent to form a
thin film on the skin surface to reduce water evaporation and play
a moisturizing effect, and can also be used as a controlled release
carrier to control the release rate of active ingredients and
extend the action time of the product.
3. Oral care
- Carbomer can be used to prepare products such as toothpastes, oral
mouthwashes and oral sprays, providing the right viscosity and
texture and keeping the ingredients stable.
Advice:
- Recommended usage is 0.2~1.5wt %, while stirring the polymer evenly
scattered in the medium, but to avoid agglomeration, fully stirred
to disperse, and to pH 7.0~10 polymer has ideal thickening
performance, after neutralization should avoid high-speed shear or
stirring to reduce viscosity loss.
Using Tips:
- After carbomer completely dissolves water, it needs to add alkaline
substances to neutralize to achieve good results, such as
triethanolamine, sodium hydroxide and so on.
